Antacids.

I never thought I would be writing a blog post about antacids, but here I am.

Sadly, Mylanta Gelcaps have been discontinued. My mother and I were both unable to find them in stores, so I finally emailed the company and they responded with the sad news.

Why is this such a tragic event? Because, to my knowledge, Mylanta Gelcaps were the only the only non-chewable, non-liquid antacid on the market: In other words, they were the only antacid that didn't actually make me feel more nauseated when I took them. No chalky texture, no vile fruity flavor.

I figure that if enough people complain, the company may consider reversing its decision to discontinue Mylanta Gelcaps. So here's a website that will allow you to email the company with your complaint. If you prefer, there's also a phone number.

Thanks in advance for helping to get my favorite antacid back on the market. ;-)

Of course, the alternative is to learn how to relax so that you don't drive up those acid levels... ;-}

I too used Mylanta Gelcaps and the generic ones made by Walgreen were about the same only cheaper and they are not on the shelf anymore either. I saw some a few months ago at Walmart marked down and bought all they had but that supply will soon be gone. So I will try to contact the company, but maybe Walgreen also, unless those were made for them by mylanta?

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who is annoyed and somewhat depressed about this. ;) I have a terrible upset stomach today and opened up my bottle to see that I only had two pills left... and I've been looking for some time without luck. Now I know why! :)

I also had socked up, but am down to my last box, and cannot find them anywhere either. I went to the website and asked for them to please bring the gelcaps back. I hope we can get enough people to respond to your post. Thank you for the website link. I think I will ask my friends to send a message too, maybe that will help.

Mel - Thanks so much for posting this information. I've been going crazy looking for them and I figured they had taken them off the market.

However, I appreciate the information you provided in your post. I sent an e-mail to the company. Hopefully, the company will bring them back.

Thanks!

I sent in my e-mail to Johnson & Johnson as I was just as crushed to learn that the gelcaps were discontinued. Your points as to the fact that they were the only antacid that didn't make one gag were right on. I can't believe there are so few of us that it didn't make sense to continue making them. I don't like the idea of the more 'powerful' drugs like Pepcid and the others.

Thank you so much for this information! I have been looking everywhere for them and even tried getting my pharmacy to order them but they didn't know why they weren't available to them either. I'm sadly just as upset as you are about it and hope they change their minds.

I called Mylanta yesterday to receive the same bad news. I travel quite a bit so I asked if they thought I should pour the liquid all over my laptop and lick it off.
You can be sure the customer was not considered in this senior product decision.

It looks like I'm not alone in my search for Mylanta Gelcaps! I was beginning to wonder if they had been discontinued and now I know that they have. I'll write the company also and we'll see if we can get them to bring them back.
Smiles,
Pam :)
p.s. I "googled" Mylanta Gelcaps hoping to find a link to onlines stores that sell them and that's how I found your blog. :)

Me too. I haven't been able to find them in the stores for a long time and my last batch I ordered online so I googled and saw this and now I know the bad news...
I just used my last one. It is the only otc medicine that has been effective for me. It works almost instantly. I don't use it alot b/c I don't suffer often but when I do.. it is the only cure for me. I will also contact the company and hope they come to their senses.

I too have written to the company numerous times and have done so again when I found this blog site.
It is my hope your site can reach many people and J&J will be bombarded with requests to put these back on the shelves for those of us who have counted on them for years.

I am so disheartened. I found these pills at a Big Lots one day and my husband insists they are the only OTC pills that work for him. He REFUSES to use anything else. So when I tried to go back now that he only has 2 pills left, I can't find them. I could kick myself for not realizing that Big Lots usually carries discontinued stuff and bought the entire stock of them. I have written J&J twice to plead to get them back on the market!

Thanks for all the feedback. Misery always loves company, I guess. :)
