orner at the bottom of the dishwasher...I would like to point out that I do not own any dishes like this, and I'm pretty sure my roommate doesn't, either. Presumably, the dish belonged to the previous tenants (two male law students), who perhaps wondered why they ended up with a lid that had no corresponding dish. Or maybe they didn't.

It would be my bet that it's the latter...
I found my kitten in the dishwasher a couple times... (fortunately with the door open and not running)
